ToasterComp 2000

You catch a whiff of burning bread in the Hallway and follow it to this room. Here you find a number of tables at which people are hard at work on their ToasterComp entries. Along one wall is a workbench with a row of toasters on it. Each toaster has a bag of bread beside it and the workbench is strewn with scraps of bread, ranging from soft and white to hard and black. From time to time, someone will walk over to the workbench and play with a toaster for a bit before wandering back to their computer to continue programming. A poster on the wall explains the rules:

"Make a toaster. The toaster should have a lever on it (to push down the bread) and a slide or dial to set the toastedness to. See how much of a game you can make out of it -- let your imagination run wild, as they say."
