The Lesson of the Chicken
Consider the chicken... She is of the coop: quick and flighty, but extremely irritable. Farmers raise her on a diet of corn. Children love her when chopped up and processed into McNuggets. But place her on the side of a road and she becomes a thing of legend. An apocryphal joke, if you will. You have never felt a deep kinship to the chicken. You disdain barbeque. It is your opinion that nothing in this world, nothing, is finger-licking good. Ever since you were a child, you've been forced to believe that the joke about the chicken and the road was funny. You told it over and over again, gaining the laughter from adults you so desperately wanted.
